Welcome

So I've decided to finally create my blog. At first I was going to do a blog specifically on the food choices in the GTA, hence the name "Chewy's Choices". But then I thought it could be one of the focuses but I'd like to include some other things too. Maybe some personal opinions and the odd picture or two.

I think everyday we have to make many choices. We decide every day what we're going to wear, what we're going to eat, and more importantly what we're going to do. Some choices we make unconsciously while others we think long and hard. We may not always make the right choices but I think in the end we try to make the best choices for us, our family and our friends.

Hopefully I can share with you some of the choices I make (or have made) and maybe even my thoughts. Feel free to make comments or suggestions as I'm always happy to hear from my friends.

Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Feliz Navidad, etc.

I was sitting around one day and thinking what to write in my Christmas cards and how much can you really write in a Christmas card? So I thought this would be a good idea to let those interested know how 2012 went and maybe what's in store for 2013.

Wow, it's been over a year and half since I wrote on here last.  I really don't have any excuses but I guess it was always hard to find time.  Coincidentally enough probably when I stopped writing was when I started dating this crazy, funny and amazing person.

To be honest I can't really recall how 2012 started off, it all went by so fast.  In February I had my first taste at curling!!  Let's just say my build isn't exactly conducive to curling.  But I had a great time with it.  Luckily for me I could actually get the rock to the button pretty consistently  but I think it was sweepers that really helped me out.  We're hoping to do it again in 2013 as an annual event in Sarnia.

In March I went on a family cruise with Jamie and her family.  It departed out of Miami and stopped at Cozumel  Mexico, Belize, Roatan, Honduras, and Grand Cayman.  In Cozumel we rented some scooters and rode around the island, stopping off at a few beaches and bars along the way.  It was Jamie's first time on a scooter and she loved it!!

In Belize we did a river cave tubing tour.  We had a great time.  It was with a company called Major Tom.  We had his son ("Minor" Tom) take the 5 of us on the tour.  He was great, allowing us to free float individually as we saw all the other groups of people linked together. We got to see some really neat rock formations and beautiful scenery   I also took a few big rocks off the butt in the shallow parts of the river (butts up!!!).

Roatan seemed more like a resort stop specifically for cruise ships.  They had a beautiful beach and lots of bars and restaurants.  It was a pretty lazy day there.

In Grand Cayman Jamie's sister and her husband were a little jealous of us in Cozumel and the scooters so we decided to do it again.  The four of us went around the island stopping off at a turtle sanctuary and a beautiful beach with the clearest water I've been to since I was in Maldives.

This was my second cruise ever and I had a great time.  All you can eat food at all hours, a casino on board, and great people to be around, who could ask for anything more??

One last highlight on that trip was stopping by Jamie's Uncle's place.  He has a shop called Active Autowerke.  They are a BMW performance shop which you may have heard of if you're into BMW's.  Uncle Freddy was kind enough to take Jamie and I out in a newly installed supercharged BMW M3 and a 135i with a new exhaust.  Those cars were pretty amazing.

As usual for me this year I believe I attended 7 weddings.  6 were friends of mine and 1 was Jamie's cousin.

Congrats to Jacky & Van, Roy & Yin, Peter & Yeena,  Howard & Thao, Aaron & Julie, and Herbie & Elvia.  (I "borrowed" these photo's from facebook, thanks to the orginal photographers!)

I was lucky enough to be asked to MC Herbie and Elvia's wedding alongside a great friend Robbie Glean.  It was a great night full of singing and dancing!!!!
As most of you know I used to travel quite a bit for work, but took a hiatus from it for a few years, but now I'm starting to travel again.  This summer I got a chance to visit Kenya for the first time with a stop over in Amsterdam as well.  In Kenya I went on a safari and got a chance to see zebras, giraffes and lions up close.  Also stopped by an elephant rescue.  It was a lot different then the elephant orphanage I visited in Sri Lanka.

I also went to Istanbul and London in the fall, but I had been there before and there wasn't much time to sight see.  I'm scheduled to go Hanoi, Vietnam on New Years with a one day stop in Taipei, Taiwan.  I've been to Hanoi before but this will be my first time in Taiwan, the mother land!

Sorry for the long post and I'll end on this joyful note.  My brother and his wife had a baby boy this October.  Joshua Alex Chou.  He's the first grandchild for my folks and I'm honored to have him named after me.  He's still so tiny but I'm excited to play with him and watch him grow!

Thanks for taking the time see my year in review.  There's probably a lot more I could write about but just don't have the time (and I don't want to bore everyone!).  Hopefully I can post more often on here so feel free to come back to check out any updates.

Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones.  Thanks for making my life so fun and enjoyable.  Till we meet again in the new year, on the volleyball court, the softball diamond, the 9th hole, or at the buffet table.  All the best in 2013 and may it be full of fun, fortune and love.

Alex
