It's been a long week and thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. Tuesday night was my usual volleyball night. Always full of fun and laughs. Because we just can't get enough of one another we decided to all head out Wed night to dinner at Joey's at Don Mills and Lawrence. I've been there before and it's a nice place. The one thing I did notice were the guys hanging around the bar. How do I sum this up nicely... I almost thought I was watching Jersey Shore live. I hope I'm never ever like these guys. I'm not even sure how to describe them. Cocky, arrogant, douche bags is really all that comes to mind. Maybe that's why I don't really like the place completely. Mind you these guys didn't do anything to me, or even say anything to us. I think I'm a pretty good judge of character. I usually can figure out what someones all about in the first 30sec to a minute of meeting them. Don't get me wrong they didn't ruin the night, just noticed them is all. We had quite a nice server. She was a pretty Asian girl, kinda tall. We all just assumed she was Korean, but once we found out her name the doubts started to appear. I think her name was Meagan W. What Korean last names start with W? So we decided to ask her and it turns out she's Chinese. :-) lol. As usual I'll try to put up a review in my restaurants section (I know, I haven't updated that page in a while). In short, the food was good but you don't get a whole lot of food. The 1/2 chicken seemed pretty big and I know the chicken was pretty good (I had the chicken and ribs).
One thing that came up was NQR. What does it mean? Not Quite Right. One of our friends just returned from South Africa and apparently many ex-pats would use this term to refer to things that didn't seem quite right. Like a highway to nowhere, or a funny looking building. So we officially called one of our friends NQR. How fitting it is as well. He's a great guy who cracks me up. He can eat like a champ and orders the oddest things off of menu's. I heard he ordered steamed Sea Bass after vball Tuesday night, NQR... he's yet to show up on time for vball, dinner, or anything else.... NQR. He hits a volleyball like he's pushing food away... NQR. Haa haa.
2 good friends are leaving tomorrow to Japan for 2 weeks (Have a great and safe trip!!). I was supposed to join them but some things came up and it just didn't work out for me to go at this time. My brother and his wife just got back from a week in Japan and a week in S. Korea. I'm hoping to get a chance to check it out in the near future. There's actually a few places that I'd like to visit. China (for the great wall), Egypt (for the pyramids and historic monuments), Argentina (I hear the food is amazing), Brazil. Australia. New Zealand, and maybe Fiji and Hawaii. I hear Fiji is much like the Maldives. I was in the Maldives probably 5 years ago and it was one the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Recently two couples that just got married this fall both took their honeymoons to the Maldives. I actually haven't spoken to them about it. If you don't know about the Maldives it's a country made up of hundreds of little islands. They're located off the south west coast of India. I happened to be lucky enough to stay on a little island called Paradise island. I think it took about an hour to walk around the whole island. I got stay in a really nice hut on the beach that had an outdoor shower. So as the sun beat down on me, I mooned it in return!! lol.
If you haven't noticed already I'm also posting a video on my blog that I find interesting or funny. This new video is from the Amazing race. I don't know how she doesn't get hurt any more then she does.

Welcome
So I've decided to finally create my blog. At first I was going to do a blog specifically on the food choices in the GTA, hence the name "Chewy's Choices". But then I thought it could be one of the focuses but I'd like to include some other things too. Maybe some personal opinions and the odd picture or two.
I think everyday we have to make many choices. We decide every day what we're going to wear, what we're going to eat, and more importantly what we're going to do. Some choices we make unconsciously while others we think long and hard. We may not always make the right choices but I think in the end we try to make the best choices for us, our family and our friends.
Hopefully I can share with you some of the choices I make (or have made) and maybe even my thoughts. Feel free to make comments or suggestions as I'm always happy to hear from my friends.
